Stan Herd – 1.2 Acre Recreation of Van Gogh’s “Olive Trees”

Agriculture artist Stan Herd creates recreations of famous artworks on giant plots of land. In one of his latest creations, Herd recreated Van Gogh’s “Olive Trees” painting on 1.2 acres of crop land. The piece, which was commissioned by the Minneapolis Institute of Art involved countless hours of mowing, digging, planting, and landscaping to make the piece viewable from the air near the Minneapolis airport.
