Born (1961) in Italy, fine artist Toni Hamel currently lives and works in Oshawa, a suburb of Toronto, Canada. Hamel describes her work as “an illustrated commentary on human frailties“. Rooted in story-telling, her art practice draws from personal experiences and outward observations to create thematic bodies of work that reflect on and interpret the psychological unease characteristic of our age.
In a recent series entitled “Happy Hour” the artist describes the project of beautiful illustrations as: “A collection of thoughts about the things I’ve heard, the things I’ve seen, and what will come.”
