KAABOO Del Mar has done it again. The impressive culmination of its second annual “Mix-perience” at the historic Del Mar Racetrack and Fairgrounds in sunny Del Mar, CA exceeded bold new boundaries and expectations with the ArtworK experience. The grandiose array of contemporary art, live mural painting, glowing art installations and unique fine artworks by dozens of globally acclaimed artists took KAABOO guests on an unparalleled visual journey. More images, information and recap video after the jump.
This contemporary art experience, discovery and creativity, is collectively curated with a progressive artistic vision, led by KAABOO’s San Francisco-based Art Director and featured artist, Amandalynn and Los Angeles-based Ariel Gordon, Director of KAABOO ArtworK. “We have spent the past year working alongside an amazing team of artists, producers and designers to collaboratively integrate visual art as a key element into the overall KAABOO Experience. The result was spectacular and I am very grateful for everyone’s hard work and dedication to this project,” says Amandalynn.
Alongside music headliners Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band, Aerosmith, Jack Johnson and Fall Out Boy, the world renowned mural artists Askew, Caratoes, Vans the Omega, Lauren YS, 1010, Jet Martinez, N.C. Winters, Tatiana Suarez, Amandalynn, Kamea Hadar, Carly Ealey, Cinzah, and Jason Botkin, painted live on site, a handful of which slayed massive 20 x 30’ canvases. Acclaimed installation artists Aaron Li Hill, Ian Ross, Spenser Little, David Young V, and Eddie Colla provided gorgeous new levels of interactivity for festival attendees.
In addition to the outdoor art, the ArtworK Contemporary Art Fair hosted over 100 pop-up exhibitions from artists and galleries from around the world, such as 111 Minna Gallery, Artists Republic, C.A.V.E. Gallery, Visual Gallery, Distinction Gallery, In Heroes We Trust, Sparks Gallery, The San Diego Museum of Art, Visual Gallery, and Thumbprint Gallery. Within the impressive lineup of galleries, were original works by John Lennon, Grace Slick and Ronnie Wood. The experience also included the Juxtapoz Newsstand amongst displays of numerous independent artists from around the globe.
“We are incredibly proud of the success of ArtworK 2016. We brought together such a diverse community of artists and galleries that developed a show that exceeded our vision. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing a contemporary art community come together from across the globe to create something totally unique to KAABOO,” says Ariel Gordon, Director of Artwork.
The KAABOO Artwork Experience created a unique and expansive selection of contemporary fine art, street art, and sculptural movements. The creative vision and execution, showcased within KAABOO Del Mar’s experience of world-class music, incredible cuisine, craft libations, and personal indulgences, proves that visual stimulation is an incredible asset in creating a truly encompassing experience in the live event world.
