Artist and designer Vincent Tourigny recently came out with an impressive book about the history of Montreal graffiti, more specifically the epic abandoned warehouse “La Jenkins” where it was frequently painted by the biggest names in the scene from the mid 90s until it’s demolition last year.
If you’re in Montreal, don’t miss the opening tonight at Station16 Gallery featuring original silkscreen prints, DJs and of course the book available for purchase.
Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Frida Kahlo, so many great artists have one very furry thing in common: cats. Gathered here for the first time by editor Alison Nastasi are behind-the-scenes stories of more than 50 famous artists and their feline friends. From Salvador Dali’s pet ocelot Babou to John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s menagerie of cats, Artists and Their Cats from Chronicle Books (edited by Alison Natasi) captures these endearing friendships in charming photographs and engaging text.
We recently got in touch with a graffiti artist who goes by the name of S.kape289. A very nice guy who’s currently out in Germany doing his thing, but hails from all over the world and because of this, S.kape uses the terrain all to his advantage to bring life to his graffiti work. Also, he created a mini flip book that starts as a wall and turns into a piece entitled “Flipfitty.” See all the science after the jump!
