Titus Kaphar – Reimagining Paintings

Fine artist Titus Kaphar creates new perspectives on art with his deconstructed painting installations. After painting in the style of classical and Renaissance greats, Kaphar starts to deconstruct the piece by literally peeling or cutting back the actual canvas that has been painted. He often uses cutouts and silhouettes to recontextualize the paintings in a way seem to transport us into a different reality.
