Group Exhibition – “Rise And Shine” @ Arcade Gallery

Arcade Art Gallery is pleased to present « Rise And Shine », its first group show held in the city of Kaohsiung, Taiwan. For our premiere show, we are proud to exhibit works from multiple established International Artists and introduce them to Taiwan. « Rise And Shine » features contemporary artists who encourage discussion on the present, and future direction, of the Graffiti & Street Art Movement. Their work showcases the raw essence of this genre via their bold compositions, striking colour palettes and forward thinking design choices. « Rise And Shine » is a curation of Artists who all share a similar vision and purpose; to demonstrate to Taiwan what is possible with their chosen art form. Group Exhibition – “4%ers” @ Athen B. Gallery

2016 brings us a new iteration of 4%ers, a group show at Athen B. Gallery which originated last year at FFDG in San Francisco, this time with a slightly wilder premise. Founded on principals such as exclusion and defiance, this year’s group seeks to express this boldness rather than stifle it internally. More info and images after the click.

Athen B. Gallery – One Year Anniversary Group Exhibition

June 11th marks the One Year Anniversary of Athen B. Gallery opening its doors to the Bay Area community. With monthly exhibitions and numerous public art projects ranging from sculpture installations to murals, it’s been one hell of a year. We would like to express our gratitude for the opportunity to serve the neighborhood and its art community. We look forward to more years of receptions, mural tours, class visits and open studios.

To commemorate the anniversary, we have created an exhibition for the community with 15 talented locally and internationally based artists that embody the core aesthetics we value as a creative space. The viewer will enjoy a range of work from ceramic sculptures, paintings, illustrations, neon and mixed media.

Learn more about all of the artists in the exhibition HERE.

Shy Kids – ® o c k e t s [Official Video]

Shy Kids are a Toronto-based group of three musicians, filmmakers, roommates and best friends who recently put the finishing touches on their debut album, titled Lofty! The title was inspired by their Kensington Market loft where they made the album and debut music video for the first single “Ⓡ o c k e t s”.

The music video for “Ⓡ o c k e t s” premiered yesterday and the characters, places and objects in the music video were built entirely out of candy (which took about 9 months and $600 worth). Conceptualized and created from start to finish by the members of shy kids; from sourcing the candy, imagining the plot-line and all of the editing.

Even though right now their focus is on their music, they have strong roots and a background in film. You may have seen a documentary they premiered in 2013 called Noah which received critical acclaim and won best short film at the TIFF festival that year.
